It yields a professional look suitable for handmade product lines or cozy home accents. Additionally, it serves as an excellent stash buster, utilizing small amounts of yarn across customizable color combinations that reflect classic autumn tones with a modern twist.
Perfect For
These coasters enhance fall and autumn home decor, particularly within cottagecore styling or Thanksgiving table settings. They are practical for everyday kitchen and coffee table use. As scrap yarn projects, they allow for creative color mixing. Furthermore, they make lovely handmade gifts for housewarmings, holidays, or inclusion in cozy autumn care packages.
What You Will Need
Gather the materials specified in the source to replicate this project. You will need #2 fine (sport, baby, 5-8 ply) cotton yarn with approximately 16 to 18 WPI (wraps per inch). One 2 ounce (50 gram) ball of each color is more than enough for six coasters. The suggested colors are cream, mustard, orange, brown, green, and purple. Essential tools include a 3.5 mm hook, scissors, a yarn needle, a ruler, and a 1 inch (2.5cm) button.

Finished Size And Gauge

Each finished crochet coaster measures approximately 4 inches (10 cm). The source notes that gauge is not so important for this project.
Pattern Notes
Construction involves creating a five-round granny square followed by a final border round in cream. Maintaining consistent tension ensures evenly sized coasters. Crocheters can mix and match colors for each round to create a cohesive yet varied set, or follow the provided colorways guide for suggested combinations.
Color Ways For Each Coaster
The source lists specific color assignments for six distinct coasters. Round 6 is always worked in cream (Color A). The inner rounds vary to create different autumn palettes using mustard, orange, brown, green, and purple. Refer to the original pattern for the exact round-by-round color sequence for each of the six designs.

How to Make Stack and Strap Coaster Set

The coaster construction begins with a foundation ring formed by chaining three stitches and joining them with a slip stitch. The first five rounds build the granny square motif using double crochet clusters separated by chain-two corner spaces, with color changes occurring between each round. A final sixth round adds a single crochet border. Five additional coasters are made to complete the set of six, following the color suggestions outlined in the pattern notes.
Button Strap Holder
The strap starts with a chain of seven stitches. Half double crochet stitches establish the base width, followed by rows of single crochet that extend the length. Before creating the buttonhole, verify the strap measures about 11 inches (28cm) long; it must wrap around the stacked coasters with an overlap, adding more rows if necessary. The final round forms the buttonhole using sc2tog and chain spaces, then works single crochet along the edges before fastening off.
Finish strap

To assemble, place the strap right side down and position the coasters on top. Wrap the strap around the stack so the buttonhole loop sits on top. Use a pin to mark where the button should be sewn onto the other end of the strap, then secure the button in place. Once wrapped around the coasters, the set is complete.
