Project introduction

This is a pattern overview, not a full tutorial. The Star Wars cushion by Ahooka Migurumi is a pillow pattern offered as a free Ravelry download. It was designed as an add-on to the designer’s Star Wars graphgan, and the squares from both projects are completely interchangeable. For the complete stitch-by-stitch instructions, charts and pictures, follow the Original designer’s pattern and instructions on Ravelry.
If you already worked the Star Wars graphgan, you can borrow four of its squares to assemble this cushion, or use the cushion squares to enlarge or refresh the afghan. The listing keeps all instructions, charts and making-of resources on the designer’s page, so this overview only covers what to expect and what to gather.
Star Wars cushion

Ahooka Migurumi rates this pattern as Advanced. You will need to know single crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, changing color, and carrying a color along the top of the work. The front combines character squares worked from the included charts in tapestry crochet, and the pattern provides four exclusive grids: Rey, Finn, BB8 and Kylo Ren. All instructions are written in US crochet terms and supported by explanatory pictures.
The finished cushion measures approximately 40×40 cm (15×15 inches). The pattern explains how to assemble the squares and add the back of the pillow, which uses three additional skeins in the color of your choice, plus a cushion insert of the same size. A making-of video linked from the listing shows how the pieces come together.
- Worsted weight yarn in 12 colors, in 50 gr skeins (1.8 oz): beige, blue and black (2 skeins each), brown, sand, white, orange, dark gray and light gray (1 skein each), plus a very small amount of red and just a strand of green
- 3 additional skeins for the pillow back in your chosen color (the designer used beige and sand)
- 3mm crochet hook (D/3)
- 8mm crochet hook (L/11)
- Tapestry needle (or yarn needle)
- 40×40 cm cushion insert (approx 15×15 inches)
The listing describes this pattern as a free Ravelry download, and the text also mentions an instant download step, so check the current terms on the listing page before you start. The pattern is a PDF for personal use only, written in both English and French, and it is the pattern itself, not the finished cushion.
